Origin:
Skye was created in a lab, spliced together with dragon and unicorn DNA. He was an experiment created by a scientist of Nightmare Moon's. His purpose was to serve as a powerful member of her personal guard, but he never had that honor as his training was cut short before he was ready when Celestia defeated Nightmare Moon. He managed to escape unnoticed by the royal guard and slipped off into seclusion.

Personality:
Despite his intended purpose, Skye is actually a fairly peaceful individual. Though he has not ever been part of a large community, he has met various individuals through his travels…Some of which he could possibly even call his 'friend'. Despite his peaceful side however, within his spirit rages an internal conflict…Between always wanting to return to the purpose he was created for, to be a warrior of the night…Or to turn from his intended purpose to live a peaceful existence. Neither option seems to work well within his favor, his compassionate nature causes him guilt for misdeeds, or even prevents him from acting upon crueler impulses, but in the end his blood thirst is unquenchable. While he has made few friends on his travels…He has slayed many foes.

Bio:
He is a powerful being, wielding strength of both dragon and unicorn…Along with training to take on the fiercest of foes. To friends he is a guardian, a protector. He would never give his life for another, but only because he never intends to fail those he calls 'friend'. He has a darkness within him, the presence of violence, fear, sorrow, and rage fuels it; giving his magic potency and giving him a fierce demeanor. He has resisted this darkness for his entire life, the constant reminders from other ponies calling him a monster and an abomination hammer away at his shell. He gained a large foothold against the darkness upon meeting a lovely mare, she helped to show him he wasn't a monster by believing in his compassion and seeing the kindness within him. Sadly this was shattered on one fateful night when the darkness took over his actions, causing the death of a stallion the mare deeply cared for...Leading to her losing hope in the monster. The darkness within took this opportunity to further taint Skye's psyche, turning him from his peaceful ways and leading him further into his life as a monstrous Knightmare.

Weakness:
The ever present war within his soul constantly tears at his psyche, giving him no rest within even his own mind. Despite his compassionate nature, deep within is a dark cruelty, hammered into his soul since his creation through both his training and the life he lived as an outcast. He tries not to stay too long in the dark as it gives him an unwanted comfort...Making it easier for him to commit unspeakable acts. Often when he enters a state of anger his rage fuels the darkness, blinding him and making it difficult to differentiate friend from foe. This darkness has caused his life to be a path of regret, further brining him to the realization that he is an abomination.

Known simply as the 'Dark Spirit' it has never spoken its true name

Age:
Unknown

Personality:
Wicked, malicious, deceitful, manipulative, dangerous, vicious, bloodthirsty, unquenchable, destructive.

Bio:
The dark spirit was implanted into Skye's soul long ago during his (Skye) creation, its purpose was to keep Skye on the path of darkness and hold back any sympathy Skye may feel towards his foes. One might wonder why the scientists didn't merely just put the dark spirit alone in the drakorn's vessel. It's simple really, the spirit has no allies and sees everypony as a possible snack, without Skye's peaceful nature keeping the spirit in check they would not have a guard but an unquenchable killing machine. In short the two spirits balance each other out, Skye keeps the darkness' more vicious impulses at bay while the dark spirit helps push along the peaceful Skye to perform his duties.

Of course in the end Skye's training was never complete, he had never reached full indoctrination with the night as the process was interrupted by Celestia's knights. Skye fled and managed to escape the battle, but ever since his spirit has been unstable, the darkness trying to take over.

Then one day the darkness managed to gain a strong hold over Skye, taking over as the dominant force and piloting the drakorn on a murderous rampage, this day the Knightmare was born. Once he was captured and sentenced to permanent solitude within a gem it only served the darkness further. It had Skye right where it needed him, alone, forgotten, and despised by all.

The darkness is still waiting for the perfect moment, the day when its host is finally killed. For it is not a typical parasite…It doesn't require the host to be alive, in fact once Skye is killed…The darkness is freed from all inhibitions…Able to defy even Skye's physical limitations from pain and fear of death.

Power:
The spirit's true power cannot be realized until its host has been eliminated, only having the power of suggestion and control until then.
Its powers after the death of the host include:
manipulating its vessel like a weapon, any piece be it organ or bone can become deadly under its influence
It can reconstruct the vessel should it need to and feels no pain.
Its aura can inflict blindness upon its foes and can even silence screams and freeze blood.

Weakness:
The dark spirit's only true weakness is Skye's peaceful nature, the only thing holding it back from its plans of destruction and chaos.

Though its aura is rendered powerless in the sun, the light doesn't hurt the vessel.

Even though the spirit can not truly be obliterated by any physical means, if its vessel were to be utterly destroyed it would have to find a new host.
